Happy Shark Week! I love shark week, and not just because it’s an excuse to watch really bad shark movies (look for a run of bonus episodes featuring all six Sharknado movies coming up). This definitely falls in the cheesy, so bad it’s good categories. I enjoyed it a lot.
Just as a heads up, they never show the bikini ski run, so if you watch this for hot girls in bikinis skiing down a mountain, you, my friend, will be sorely disappointed.
One of the things I really liked about this movie is that there are no real villains. Yes, Lars and Dale are assholes, but they’re only human. Everyone who could be portrayed as bad has redeeming qualities.
One of the things I did not like was all of the loose ends. I really wanted to hear the version of the story where the sharks were noble beings trying to escape their dying planet. Also you never get the lead female character’s name. I’m assuming it’s Diana because the picture of the actress looked right on IMDB.
This came out in 2014 and was directed by Scott Wheeler and written by Keith Shaw. It stars Alexander Mendeluk as Wade, Kelle Cantwell as Madison, Richard Gleason as the sheriff, Kate Nauta as Diana, Eric Scott Woods as Dale, and Benjamin Easterday as Lars. It’s currently available on Amazon Prime.
