Welcome to Betsy celebrates shark week by overindulging in bad shark movies! I made Sharknado bonus episodes because why not? This is what I do when I’m suddenly given free time. Not go on a trip (I mean, a hurricane is supposed to hit us tomorrow, so it’s not like I can really go anywhere anyway) or get away, no, I binge watched all six Sharknado movies.

Oh, yeah. I watched all of these movies in one day and then Elsa, which was a tropical storm by that point, made landfall the same morning and was over us when I started editing. Not at all unnerving.

Who doesn’t love the Sharknado movies though? They’re fantastic! I love that the entire news room of the Today show got involved in each movie from the second one on. In fact, the sheer volume of serious entertainers and journalists who became part of these movies is kind of amazing.

All of them were released by SyFy and directed by Anthony C. Ferrante. For the first two they were written by Thunder Levin and star Ian Ziering as Fin and Tara Reid as April. In Sharknado: Enough Said, which was released in 2013, it also stars Cassandra Scerbo as Nova, John Heard as George, Jaason Simmons as Baz, Audrey Peebles as Claudia. In Sharknado 2 The Second One, which was released in 2014, it also stars Vivica A. Fox as Skye, Mark McGrath as Martin, Kari Wuhrer as Ellen, Judd Hirsch as Ben, Courtney Baxter as Mora, and Dante Palminteri as Vaughn. I watched them on Amazon Prime.
