Zaat: Blood Waters of Doctor Z

You know how there are these handy things called “calendars” that help you “schedule” so you don’t “forget to post an episode”?

Yeah, sorry about that!

I love this B Movie train I’m on, and Zaat did not disappoint. I got the inspiration for this one from Cracker Gothic by Wanda S. Duncan. Cracker Gothic is Duncan’s memoirs about her life in Green Cove Springs while taking care of her mother, who had recently been diagnosed with dementia. She remembers when Zaat was filmed there, so I naturally had to find it.

This was available on YouTube on VTV Classics, which is an absolutely wonderful channel, and you should find it. It has so many great old movies! I can’t wait to find more inspiration for the podcast schedule (muah ha ha).

This came out in 1971 in the US, 1972 in Tampa and Twin Bays, and 1982 as a rerelease in New York from Barton Films. It was directed by Don Barton and Arnold Stevens, who was not credited, and written by Ron Kivett, Lee O. Larew, Don Barton, and Arnold Stevens, who, again, was not credited. It stars Gerald Cruse as Rex, Paul Galloway as the Sheriff, Wade Popwell as the Monster, Marshall Grauer as Kurt, and Sanna Ringhaver as Martha.
